Among our personal favourites...

Some of our other favourite destinations in the south of France and Mediterranean region are the islands off the coast of southern France. Corsica is French (but closer to the coast of Italy).

Just south of Corsica is Sardinia - then keep travelling south-east to reach Sicily (the 'ball' just off the 'toe' of Italy).
