General travel advice - driving to the Dordogne

Most people coming by car pass through Calais, Paris and Limoges en route. However there are alternatives, one of the most important being whether to leave the motorway near Limoges or Brive. All our visitors suggest different routes, with your personal ideal route depending on several factors, including:

 

Whether you are travelling in high or low season

Would you prefer to take longer but avoid the toll roads,

Which port you will arrive at in France,

Whether you plan to break the journey up with an overnight stop en route.

 

Stopovers
