Welcome to our Dordogne holiday cottage, newly renovated (with two modern bathrooms) situated in Les Escures, which is a tranquil hamlet on the banks of the Vezere river between Terrasson La Villedieu and Brive La Gaillarde.
Property description
Our cottage is a converted small barn with a main, open-plan, light living room including dining and kitchen areas in the French country-style (with electric cooker, fridge/freezer and washing machine). Just the place to prepare a mouth-watering meal after a trip to one of the local markets.
From the lounge French doors open onto a covered West-facing terrace with views across the wide Vezere valley, ideal for a leisurely breakfast with fresh warm crusty bread. After a day of sightseeing, you could fire up the BBQ and watch the sun go down!
There are three bedrooms: a large double (opening onto the balcony above the terrace), a twin bedroom with bath/toilet upstairs, and downstairs a further twin bedroom and a shower/toilet.
Our cottage is well stocked with DVDs, board games and a range of English books (including tourist guides). We also have perfect reception of both French and English television stations and you can even listen to Radio 4's TODAY programme via the same satellite link!

Location description
All of the attractions of the Dordogne and the Correze are within easy reach of our cottage which is situated in a tranquil farming hamlet (Les Escures) by the river Vezere (a tributary of the Dordogne) only 2.5 km from the beautiful medieval town of Terrasson LaVilledieu and 12 km from a major city in the Correze – Brive la Gaillard (where the major N-S autoroute A20 crosses the new E-W autoroute A89). Easy access to the motorways means that even Limoges airport is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away.
STOP PRESS!! The cottage is only about 20 minutes drive from the new Brive-Souillac airport, which hosts economical Jet2 flights to Manchester and Citijet flights to the City Airport in London.
There is an abundance of activities and places to visit, including the rivers and limestone gorges, prehistoric sites like Lascaux (and many lesser known caves), local historic towns (e.g. Sarlat), fabulous chateaux like Hautefort, the bastide towns, vineyards and a number of themed sites. There are some lovely walks from the house and from further afield (guides at the house).
A hidden gem of the region is the Lac du Causse (15 minutes drive away) which has safe beaches for swimming, boating and other water sports and many picnic areas. There are also two outdoor swimming pools within 10 minutes drive of the cottage.
Terrasson - a delightful market town - has a good choice of restaurants, shops, cafes and a local cinema.There are supermarkets and services within the town and at local out-of-town sites. Terrasson has a railway station providing easy travel to the major local cities.

If you wish to make a reservation, please contact us on UK telephone number 0113 2666361 or by e-mail. A booking form will be sent for completion and we shall require a 25% deposit to secure the booking. The balance must be paid 4 weeks before arrival.
