2 Star. Chez Parsonage is on the edge of the hamlet La Marteille, Cercles. This restored 18th century farmhouse is surrounded by rolling farmland, forests and walking trails.
Most supplies and services can be found in the nearby delightful medieval village of LA TOUR BLANCHE with renovated working windmill nearby and a quaint brocante (Ali Babas) to find those lovely French treasures.

Set in the tiny hamlet of La Marteille this restored C.18 farmhouse is surrounded by rolling farmland, forests and walking trails. It is well placed for visits to nearby La Tour Blanche, Brantome, Bourdeilles and Riberac.
There is accommodation for 2-4 people (small pet allowed). Attached to the house is a large barn for parking and storage, a washing line & bar fridge.
In the kitchen there is a breakfast nook and wood-burning stove. It is well fitted out with a stove, fridge, microwave and front-load washing machine. A door leads out to the walled courtyard overlooking country views. Here there is a traditional French BBQ, and garden furniture for leisure and outdoor dining.
The modern bathroom is conveniently accessed from the kitchen.
In the low-beamed living room there is a sofa/bed to sleep 2 for those who prefer not to use the stairs. A television with British programming, CD/DVD, books, games and brochures are provided for your entertainment. As well there is a formal dining area and electric fireplace.
Upstairs there are two large double bedrooms, one with a fold out bed (click-clak). On request a cot is available for a small child. Bed linen and towels are provided.

This perfect getaway home is situated halfway between Angouleme and Bergerac near Brantome. There are shops and restaurants in nearby La Tour Blanche and just 15 minutes away is the lovely town of Bourdeilles with fine French restaurants and a superb chateaux to explore.
There are many country walks through fields of sunflowers or golden rapeseed, through oak groves to nearby hamlets and roman circuit of churches. Nearby is a restored working windmill set in a park with panoramic views. Favourite pastimes are cycling along the country roads and canoeing on the River Dronne as well as trout and course fishing

Bourdeilles is a 20 minute drive away - visit the Chateaux set on the trout-filled River Dronne and linger at sidewalk cafes, fish for trout in the river or visit artists' studios. Enjoy a swim at the open-air swimming pool.
Brantome is 25 minutes away. Encircled by two arms of the River Dronne, take a boat trip around this enchanting town or walk along the narrow lanes and enjoy the many shops and restaurants. Visit the famous Abbey set in the rock face.
Riberac a market-town famous for its Friday morning market, major shopping and restaurants.
Lisle with a small beach near the weir suitable for children to play and swim. There are trout tanks to explore at the nearby restaurant.
Limoge: A large city renowned for its production of fine porcelain. This is now home to a very convenient AIRPORT a 40 minute drive away from La Marteille.
Aubeterre sur Dronne is set on a hilltop with panoramic views, a central-square with open air cafes, artists' studios and shops; and an historic Grotte carved out of the sandstone rock - highly recommended. Below the town on the River Dronne there is a sandy beach for children to play. Canoe trips may be taken along the river.
Grottes de Villars: is a 45-60 minutes drive away close to Perigueux, a famous series of caves with stalectites and prehistoric paintings.
Perigueux: Medieval-Renaissance old town centre with Byzantine cathedral; an excavated roman villa as well as a modern-day shopping section of the city.
Angouleme is an attractive old town with TGV Train Stop accessing southern France and Paris and just a 35 minute drive away from Chez Parsonage.

Sarlat: A popular and busy tourist attraction with its outside cafes and ancient architecture.
Rocamadour: clinging to the cliffs above the River Alzou a marvellous place to visit 51 km east of Sarlat:
Chateau des Milandes (once owned by and famous for the Josephine Baker exhibition)
St. Emilion - for wine lovers. A delightful town to walk around the narrow lanes and ancient buildings and to taste the local wines at the many wine cellars. The countryside surrounding comprises hundreds of acres of famous and ancient vineyards
Bordeaux: A beautiful city restored with pedestrianised boulevards and neoclassical architecture. Famous for the surrounding wine country. Take a tram or tourist bus to see the sights. Nearby there is the Bordeaux International Airport.
Bergerac - is a beautiful old town on the River Dordogne famous for its local wines as well as a convenient AIRPORT connected to many european cities. This is a lovely place to start and end your visit to the Dordogne.
From Bergerac you can follow the River Dordogne for many more fascinating medieval towns and sights by river trips, canoe or bicycle.
