Property description
Claudine and Jean-Michel Prunier welcome you to Les Forges des Feynieres, their charming and historic home which dates from the 12th century and features the ruins of the forges where Henry IV manufactured his cannons.
The 6 gites, which sleep between 2 and 8 people, have everything you'll need for an authentic Perigordine holiday. All have self-catering facilities and feature original exposed beams, open fireplaces and separate al fresco dining areas with barbecues. Your accommodation surrounds a full-size open-air swimming pool and sun-bathing area, while for those of you who enjoy angling, there is an adjacent private lake.
The gites are at the centre of 20 hectares of private tranquil and unspoilt woodland and meadows which form part of the 'Parc Regional de Perigord'. Paths meander through the woods - perfect for cycling, horse-riding or simply wandering - while nearby Jumilhac le Grand has tennis, archery and even gold-panning facilities!

Location description
Though calm and tranquil, Les Feynieres is ideally located for sight-seeing and savouring the famous Perigordine cuisine. Recommended day-trips include such attractions as the prehistoric cave paintings of Lascaux, and the 'Venice of the Dordogne', Brantome. You can canoe up the clear waters of the Dordogne river or, in early summer, enjoy the stunning flower festival of St Jean de Cole, a village earning the title 'one of the most beautiful villages in France'.
On a practical level, Les Feynieres is only 15 minutes from St Yrieix, with its range of large supermarkets, as well as small traditional shops and weekly market. The town has recently opened its impressive leisure centre with tennis courts, gym and large indoor pool with water chutes. The nearest city is Limoges, renowned for its porcelain production and shopping centre, which can be reached in 40 minutes by car. From here there are daily low-cost flights to and from the UK.
