Adjacent to our own house we offer three completely self contained gites. All are fitted to a high standard, and we are here to ensure you have a super self catering holiday. Our 200 year old property is set in the rolling hills of north Dordogne, with far reaching views over the peaceful countryside. With village shops just 4 k away providing the basics, one can relax and unwind, find a shady corner in the extensive gardens or cool off with a dip in the owner's pool. Alternatively, there are many interesting, towns and villages nearby. If you like to explore chateaux, caves and caverns, prehistoric sites or vineyards, all are within easy reach. Golf, fishing and canoeing are nearby and on site we offer table tennis, badminton and a mini gym. It is the perfect base for house hunting or holidays in the Perigord Vert. Reduced rates for longer lets and winter breaks. We welcome Cheques Vacances.
Property description
La Vieille Maison **Attached to the owners property this centrally heated gite was once the heart of the original farm. It is accessed from the central courtyard, up four easy steps to a veranda - the perfect place to enjoy an aperitif at sunset. It has a cheerful, spacious kitchen/living room with large open fireplace.
T.V. , hi.fi. and games are provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, dishwasher, mini oven and all the required appliances to make gourmet meals a pleasure. From the kitchen a hallway gives access to the pool and gardens via a rear door. A characterful, romantic, bedroom with an antique double bed and a separate, newly fitted shower room are on the same level.
A double bed settee in the living room provides additional space for guests.
Les Lauriers (The Laurels) *** is an independent house to the rear of the owners' property.It was completely refurbished in the winter of 2006. A few easy steps from the private garden takes you onto a small veranda and into a spacious kitchen/ living room with tiled floor and a logburning stove. All the kitchen units and appliances are brand new. A comfy two seater settee, a t.v, DVD player and a hi fi together with a library of novels and board games will ensure that even winter evenings can be enjoyed. A couple of steps lead to a cosy study area with a desk, easy chair and bookcase, just the place to write that first novel!. To the left a door leads into a shower room with all the necessary fitments. Low doorways and exposed beams are a feature of this part of the house. Another door takes you into the large bedroom with new white painted furniture, a double bed, a single bed settee and views over the rolling fields and woods.
La Petite Maison ***Lovely and bright kitchen / dining area accessed from a sunny courtyard. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and all necessary equipment to entertain! A barbecue & outside furniture are available for alfresco dining. A log burner will keep you cosy in those colder months.
Marble stairs lead to a spacious bedroom, with antique furniture and a single bed settee. Newly fitted ensuite shower room, plus TV & comfortable sofa.
The property enjoys great views across the valley to a local chateau.

Location description
Les Gacheries is set in a small hamlet in the beautiful rolling hills of the north Dordogne, the Perigord Vert. Local air ports are; Bergerac (85 minutes), Bordeaux (120 minutes), La Rochelle (100 minutes), Limoges (120 minutes) T G V to Paris and Waterloo is available at Angouleme, 30 minutes away. It’s about a 6 hour drive from Le Havre or Cherbourg. Our nearest village, Cherval , with a bakery, general store and bar is just 4 k away and lies just off the D708, midway between Rochebeaucourt and Verteillac. The latter, just 15 minutes away has a good selection of bars, 2 restaurants, and shops providing all basic needs. 25 minutes away is Riberac the foie gras capital of France, with its colourful Friday market and all types of services. We are within easy reach of the department capital, Perigueux, the bustling city of Angouleme and the beautiful and historic towns of Brantome and Aubeterre, with numerous pretty villages, chateaux, rivers and lakes nearby. Within a days drive and well worth a visit are Cognac with its distilleries, Bordeaux and Bergerac vineyards, Sarlat and Les Eyzies with their prehistoric sites and many other attractions, too numerous to list.
